A 13-Time World Champion Is Firing Up the First-Ever Colorado Pizza Festival

If you've ever wondered what world-champion pizza actually tastes like, this weekend is your shot to find out — no plane ticket to Naples required.

The inaugural Colorado Pizza Festival takes over 4th & Kimbark in downtown Longmont this Saturday, Sept. 5 — a nine-hour block party (1 PM–10 PM) with 23+ Colorado pizzerias, live music, an amateur pizza throwdown, and every dollar going to fight hunger on the Front Range. And one booth is worth planning your day around: Slice House by Tony Gemignani.

Gemignani is not your average festival guest. A 13-time World Pizza Champion and 4-time Guinness World Record holder, in 2007 he became the first American and first non-Neapolitan to win the World Pizza Cup in Naples. He's the only "Triple Crown" winner for baking at the International Pizza Championships in Lecce, and the author of The Pizza Bible. He joins the festival alongside the Slice House team.

Eat Pizza, Do Good

The festival is presented by Pizza With Purpose, and proceeds benefit Slice Out Hunger, Longmont Food Rescue, Community Food Share, and Colorado Friendship. A $15 general admission gets you in; the $50 Golden Ticket unlocks all-you-can-eat samples from every pizzeria, 1–6 PM. Kids 12 and under are free.

Worth Knowing
Buy One Slice, Get One Free
Slice House is running a "Twice the Slice" lunch deal — BOGO slice with a Caesar salad and fountain drink for $12.99, Mon–Wed, 11am–3pm, dine-in, through Sept. 30 at the Loveland location.

What's Next: Longmont Opens Sept. 12

The timing is no accident. One week after the festival, Slice House opens its second Northern Colorado location in Longmont on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 725 Harvest Moon Dr. The first 50 people in line get an official Slice House hat and a shot at winning free pizza every week for a year — plus a pizza-box art contest for kids and adults alike.
